PALSCON Marks 34th Founding Anniversary

The Philippine Association of Legitimate Service Contractors (PALSCON) commemorates its 34th Founding Anniversary month.

"Four years and three decades, that is how long PALSCON has lived its advocacies, its mission, its vision, as well as its honored ideal to serve, both the industry and the Filipino worker, “Rhoda C. Caliwara, present PALSCON President said.

Humble Beginnings and Previous Challenges

n 2000, PALSCON started with only 25 members, however being united and passionate in their advocacy, “the 357 service contractors’ part of PALSCON are in the Top 5000 Corporations,” Lili Linda W. Ang, former PALSCON President of 2005 said.

In 2015, PALSCON encountered a misconception about its industry and what they did was inform stakeholders and players outside of their industry that contracting gives flexibility to workers, principals and business environment.

“This flexibility can now encompass the hurdle of the competitiveness of the Philippines in the ASEAN and in the Global Perspective but not the expense of the workers” Arturo “Butch” C. Guerrero, PALSCON president of 2015 said.

Adapting the New Normal

Similar to the experience of other organizations, PALSCON was also shaken by 2020. From face-to-face General Membership Meetings, Outreach Activities, even their annual National Conference—the fundamental experiences they assure to give to their members, were left unsure of its implementation.

However, the pandemic did not stop them from their commitment to execute their programs and activities for PALSCON members. They were hesitant at first, but they used this opportunity to challenge themselves to go beyond the usual. They thought out of the box and brought their face-to-face conferences into online seminars (webinars).

“Trials do not end; it is as constant as the changes that they bring. The pandemic is still here; the SOT is still in the air; and the clamor for the industry’s demise is still as real as labor itself. Nevertheless, the lessons of all those 34 years make us realize how strong we really are. Because not only did we remain standing after all those beating, but we now stand even taller… and stronger.” Caliwara said in a statement.

On their 34th anniversary this month, apart from their dedicated team that made their virtual events possible, PALSCON wants to sincerely thank ALL the service contractors and workers that became part of their journey.

“As I thank PALSCON for all the years that it has subsisted, I also rally for your continued and undying support to the organization and to what it stands for. CONGRATULATIONS PALSCON! God bless everyone.” Caliwara ended.

Here’s the entire message of PALSCON National President Rhoda C. Caliwara:

Four years and three decades, that is how long PALSCON has lived its advocacies, its mission, its vision, as well as its honored ideal to serve, both the industry and the Filipino worker. Through those years, PALSCON has not only stood the test of time but has gone through a gauntlet of fire if only to survive. The years that it came through are witnesses to PASLCON’s resilience, adaptability and innovativeness in the midst of adversities. This is a testament of what PALSCON is as an organization. Through those years, PASLCON has never ceased to adapt to the nuances of every challenge that it faced. PALSCON may have changed and has evolved into a better organization as envisioned from its beginnings but it has remained steadfast on its goals and objectives. It has weathered the strongest storms; surely, it will face more in the future. Trials do not end; it is as constant as the changes that they bring. The pandemic is still here; the SOT is still in the air; and the clamor for the industry’s demise is still as real as labor itself. Nevertheless, the lessons of all those 34 years make us realize how strong we really are. Because not only did we remain standing after all those beating, but we now stand even taller… and stronger. As I thank PALSCON for all the years that it has subsisted, I also rally for your continued and undying support to the organization and to what it stands for. CONGRATULATIONS PALSCON! God bless everyone.
